The DESINTEGRATION Series | 2020 – 2021
The POST-STRUCTURE Series | 2020
In this series, I´m using painting as a tool for an almost archeological research of socialist era playground. These were hugely affected by the mass production of socialist urban neighbourhood architecture. The paintings focus mainly on showcasing today´s neglected condition of old playgrounds and the aesthetics of their destruction. I chose the motive of public space, as it is an important part of both private and social memory. The main focus is put on the thorough exploration of paint, structures and the potential of unconventional painting materials, such as rust. All the painting are part of my bachelor research.
The DESTRUCTION Series | 2019 – 2020
Recently, I began to focus mainly on playgrounds evoking the feeling of old times with either their construction from the socialist era, or with being abandoned and partly ruined. The peeling off paint, revealing the endless layers of other colors beneath it, creates a structure evoking the layers of time. In this series, I use coats of colours accompanied with structures of medical gauze, damaged canvases, collages, décollages and rust. The duplication of playground constructions refers to the sediments of time, creating almost on abstract sensation and quality to the paintings.
The VITILIGO Series | 2017 – 2020
Through the VITILIGO series, I reflect my own body affected by vitiligo disease. During two decades, this „skin defect“ expanded to the entire surface of my body, creating patches of white between the naturally brownish coloration of the skin. In my paintings, I reflect my experience with bullying and my own complexes caused by the disease. They work as a visual diary of both the previous and the current development of vitiligo on my body, focusing on the nuances of the skin, which is reminiscent of a map…I reveal with no inhibitions my own naked body, including the intimate parts, which where also affected by disease, but for the most of the time remains hidden.
